Validation Base Rules

Validation Base Rules

The DealTrak system allows you to create a series of rules which validate against specific criteria to restrict how and where a user can send a proposal.

Please Note

These rules are specific to you as a client, and will affect every proposal you enter into your DealTrak system.

These rules are used to enforce criteria that you have. For example, if you won’t provide for finance for customers under the age of 21, you can enter a rule in to this effect. This will check the hirer age on every proposal, and if it doesn’t meet the criteria the system will not allow you to send the proposal to any lender.

In the Control Panel, select the Validation Base Rules option.

This takes you to a list of rules that are currently set up in the system. You can either edit existing rules, or create a new one from this screen.

When adding a new rule, you must first name it.

The second step is picking your Conditions.

You can have as many or as few as you require for the rule. The conditions are the factors the rule will check within the proposal (hirer age, vehicle deposit amount etc). You will need to pick an operator (less/more than, equals, does not equal etc) and enter the relevant data.

When setting the conditions, you can change the rule so that it will either ensure all the conditions are met before applying the rule, or so that it checks that the proposal meets at least one of the conditions.

The final step is to add the validation you wish the rule to enforce. This validation can match the condition, or can be a different check in relation to it.

For example, you can create a rule which looks at the minimum hirer age being 21 as a condition. If the proposal meets the condition, then it will apply the validation rule. You can either have a straight rule to say that if the minimum hirer age isn’t met, you can’t send the proposal. Or, you can set a rule that checks against the minimum age, but validates against a different point such as balance to finance.

When entering a validation, you have to select whether the error it shows is a fatal (stops the user sending the proposal) or a warning (alerts the user, but doesn’t stop them sending). You then have to enter the message you wish to show (i.e. The Hirer age is too low to send this proposal).

You can remove any conditions or validations by clicking the delete button.
